Mahatma Gandhi's satyagrah in South Africa, Samawadi Party national president
Akhilesh Yadav on Sunday said none from
Bharatiya Janata Party government can decide on his citizenship and if need arises, he will be the first who will not fill the National Population Register form.
Talking to SP workers at party office, he asked them whether they are ready to follow him.
Akhilesh said, "We all are citizens of the country.
None from BJP can took decision on our citizenship."
He said, "Rashtrapita Mahatma Gandhi jab (South)Africa mae the unhone pehla andolan kiya tha. Kuch (post)card utha kae jala diye the unhone. Jarurat padi to na hum form bharengay. Humsay form kaise bharwa loge. Agar jarurat padi to pehla mae hunga jo koi form nahi bharega. Hum nahi bhartey NPR kya karenga aap. (When Mahatma Gandhi, the father of the nation, was in (South)Africa, he held the first satyagrah. He burnt some (post)cards and burnt them....If needed, we will not fill the form. How will you get the form filled? If necessary, I will be the first one who will not fill any form. I will not fill NPR form)
He said, "The NPR,
National Register of Citizens is against every poor, minority and every Muslim."
Later talking to media on the loss of lives during demonstrations against Citizen Amendment Act, NRC, he said, "The police is involved in the excesses against citizens and even the postmortem reports of the deceased are not given."
Commenting on stopping SP leaders and Priyanka Gandhi's from meeting with protests' victim, he said, "It is understandable as to why government is acting in such an insensitive way."
